Down to week three, how’s that working out for you? See what we did there? Working out 🙂 Well, we hope the going is good.
So, as you were making resolutions or not, we were figuring out how to help you keep them.
So, what happens to the 90.8 percent? At what point, do they decide to throw in the towel? And how do you avoid being part of this sad statistic? Consider following these six golden rules.
Starting us off:
- Breakfast first! – Since the beginning of time, people have referred to breakfast as “the most important meal of the day.” It is! And you should have it, everyday! Fill up your plate as early as possible and get energized. A big healthy breakfast will not only help you make healthier decisions during the day, but also keep you full-thus, eating less!
- Find your motivation- What is it that you want? Do you want to fit into the clothes you recently bought? Boost your self-esteem, perhaps? Knowing what you want will inspire you throughout your health journey.
- Let’s do a bit of tracking, shall we? – When was the last time you looked closely at what you eat? Exactly. It’s quite an eye-opening experience. Monitor what you eat and you’ll be able to tweak your diet while still enjoying the foods you love.
- Go green – Spinach, kales, cabbage, broccoli, you name it! Fill up on veggies because they are packed full with nutrients, water, fiber, and very few calories. Half of your plate with vegetables is quite filling and you still get to cut down calories without feeling deprived. And, you can still add a kick to your veggies with herbs and spices.
- Exercise – Just a ten-minute walk everyday as you slowly increase the intensity will do the trick! Plus, you can still incorporate other form of exercises in your fitness regime. The keyword here though is slow – take it slow. Don’t try to do everything at once. Instead, spend a few weeks just trying to achieve 1-2 goals at a time. The goal here is to make permanent changes, which takes time to implement.
- Oh Lapses – Yes, by thy prepared! Falling off the wagon is part of the process. So be kind to yourself to not give up, yet. And when it does, remember to apologetically return to your healthy lifestyle immediately.
